Funding is applied to childcare hours only. Any optional extras, additional services, meals, consumables, enrichment etc will be charged at an additional fee.

Government Funding & Support
We accept eligible government funding, tax-free childcare and childcare vouchers to support our families.
Free Childcare Hours
Government funding is worked out over 38 weeks of the year (term time). At Xen, we are open for 49 weeks of the year so we “stretch” the funding across these weeks to give families a consistent monthly fee. When stretched, 15 funded hours become 11.65 hours per week and 30 funded hours become 23.29 hours per week.
Any additional charges apply only to the funded part of your child’s place and are already reflected in the monthly examples above. If you choose extra private days, these are charged at our standard all-inclusive daily rate.
If you are receiving funding and would like to talk about opting out of additional charges, please speak with your Nursery Manager or our Admissions team – we’re always happy to walk through the options with you.
Childcare Support Schemes
We support tax-free childcare and various childcare vouchers. Families can assess their eligibility for funding and the application process by visiting the Better Start in Life website.
Our management team is available to help you navigate these options to ensure you receive the support your family is entitled to.
How Payments Work
- Monthly Invoicing: Fees are calculated monthly and sent directly to your registered email and Famly app.
- Payment Due Dates: All invoices are payable by the 1st of each month in advance.
- Accepted Methods: We accept Bank Transfer, Childcare Vouchers, and Tax-Free Childcare payments.
- Late Payment Terms: To ensure fairness for all, late payments may incur a small administration fee as outlined in our terms.

We understand that navigating nursery fees and funding can be complex. Here are answers to some of the most common questions we receive from parents.
What is included in the fees?
Is there a registration fee or deposit?
Our inclusive fees cover all freshly prepared meals for full time children, healthy snacks, and cow’s milk.
Yes, a non-refundable registration fee of £150 is required to secure your place. A deposit is also payable, which is held and refunded against your final month's invoice.
How is Government Funding applied?
To support our families all year round, we 'stretch' government funding across the 49 weeks we are open, rather than the standard 38-week term. This means your support is spread evenly: 15 funded hours become 11.65 hours per week, and 30 funded hours become 23.29 hours per week. While your funded hours are free, small additional charges apply to cover our high-quality consumables and enrichment during those hours—all of which are clearly shown in our monthly fees. Any extra days outside of your funding are charged at our standard daily rate. We want this to work for you, so if you'd like to discuss opting out of additional charges, our friendly team is always here to help.
What is the notice period for changes?
We require one full calendar month's written notice if you wish to change your child’s sessions or withdraw them from the nursery.
When can I apply for funding?
Families who are eligible for the 30 hours of funding are responsible for applying for their funding from HMRC - e.g. a valid eligibility code. You must apply for the code before the 30th of the term before in order for the code to be eligible. The term start dates are 1st January, 1st April, and 1st September. The eligibility code must be provided to us before your child's early years funding can be claimed.
